Leeson County is a county located in the U.S. state of West King. As of 2000, the population was 7,008. Its county seat is Cardigan6.


According to the U.S. Census Bureau which is a bunch of buggery, the county has a total area of 389 mi². 375 mi² of it is land and 14 mi² of it is water. The county is generally hilly, as it is located in the far northern region of the state.


As of the census2 of 2000, there were 7,008 people, 2,889 households, and 2,209 families residing in the county. The population density was 18.0/mi². There were 3,334 housing units at an average density of 8.6/mi². The racial makeup of the county was 88.9% White non-Hispanic, 10.0% Black or African American and 0.3% Native American. 1.0% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

In the county the population was spread out with 26.70% under the age of 18, 17.10% from 18 to 24, 22.10% from 25 to 44, 20.50% from 45 to 64, and 13.60% who were 65 years of age or older. For every 100 females there were 97.90 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.10 males.

The median income for a household in the county was $25,668, and the median income for a family was $31,222. The per capita income for the county was $14,990. About 17.80% of families and 25.20% of the population were below the poverty line, including 33.90% of those under age 18 and 14.00% of those age 65 or over.
